Cobra Chicken Literary accepts submissions from high school students living in the city of Rochester or who are enrolled in any of Rochester’s public or private schools, grades 9-12.
Cobra Chicken Literary looks to share, uplift, and publish the talented young students of Rochester. Poetry, Prose, Art, and Photography are all welcome. We ask students to keep all works PG, with no sexual or graphic violence, as well as no intense explicit language. Every work will be public for all to read, with students names attached!
fiction
Stories should be no longer than 2000 words, and have at least 500 words.
Stories should have no graphic or explicit material.

CREATIVE NONfiction
Pieces should be no longer than 2000 words, and have at least 500 words.
Pieces should be historically and personally accurate.
Creative nonfiction should tell truthful accounts while conveying a narrative. This could be a descriptive or lyrical essay, memoir, or narrative.
Pieces should have no graphic or explicit material.

Poetry
Students may submit up to two poems.
Poems, for the most part, should be single-spaced and left justified. (Of course, it’s poetry, and we realize there are exceptions).
Poems should be no longer than two pages. (Four pages total if two poems are submitted.)
Poetry should hold no explicit or graphic material.
Our site may not be able to exactly copy your poem’s formatting.

ART | PHOTOGRAPHY
Students are able to post digital art through a high resolution PDF.
Students are also able to post physical art or sculpture on the website through clear, high resolution photos. Pieces should be the main focus, with a single color background and no other subject in frame.
Students are able to post photography through high resolution images.
Photographs should hold no sexual or graphic material.
Students are able to submit up to three pieces. Not all pieces may be used.

OTHER NOTES ON SUBMISSION
If work is completed by more than one student, complete one submission form and include both student names, bios, etc.
We have a strict policy on no AI works. All work should be done by humans, for humans.
